Amazon AZA6 (2017)
WORK /
This project was focused on Amazons desire to install a smoke evacuation system to protect employees. RMJ wired smoke evacuation fans on the roof and powered louvers in existing truck bays. In the event of a fire, the fans remove smoke from the building while the louvers allow for air flow preventing negative interior pressure build-up. This work, along with associated controls, was closely coordinated wit the Fire Alarm contractor to assure the proper sequence of operations. An additional generator was needed to power the new system in the event of utility power loss. Challenges on this job were the buildings 1.4 million square feet size and continual re-staging of work due to Amazon's ongoing operations.
